Congratulations to our FFA teachers and students. Compeer Financial has provided a $50,000 grant, which will be used for a mobile field trip idea that has been named Ag-Venture Land. Essentially, FFA will be taking a large trailer and flipping it to where students of all ages can experience the many facets of agriculture in an interactive, fun, and educational way. While school districts’ and/or families’ budgets get tighter, leaving little room for field trips, FFA wanted to be able to bring those experiences to the students and families. They hope to visit schools, as well as finding business partners for the weekends that would allow them to set up in their parking lot and offer this opportunity before or after their shopping.
As for the benefits for the FFA chapter, the hope is that the Ag-Venture Land (mobile field trip trailer) will not only give students an opportunity to practice their employability/soft skills by communicating to community members, but also inform the general public about the agriculture industry and all of its components. With each passing generation being further removed from growing their own food, it becomes more important to help educate the community about where their food comes from and dispel any myths that are out there about agriculture and food supply.
