Each year as we all focus on the spring semester, students ramp up their efforts to seek scholarship money for higher education. Our hope is to support Central 301 students in their quest past graduation. Here is a list of scholarship opportunities that might be of interest to our Central 301 students.

TOI Scholarships (Deadline – March 1, 2023) $2,000
The Township Officials of Illinois Scholarship application will require an essay of not less than 500 words on “The Role of Township Government in Today’s Society and in the Future” is attached, with signature, title, township/county of township official who was interviewed. This MUST be an elected township official who serves on a township board in Illinois. Please contact our office if you have any questions.
Illinois Chemical Education Foundation – HS Senior Scholarship (Deadline – March 3, 2023) $2,000
The Chemical Industry Council of Illinois, through the Illinois Chemical Education Foundation (ICEF) presents a number of scholarships each year to top high school senior science students. The ICEF’s objective is to recognize and honor high school seniors who have exemplified outstanding achievement in academics, extracurricular/employment activities and community involvement. Only open to students seeking degrees in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering or High School Chemistry Teaching.

Illinois Chemical Education Foundation – Lupita Turriff – (Deadline – March 3, 2023) $2,000
This scholarship is open to all Illinois Hispanic students who are first generation students to attend college and are seeking a college degree to apply for the Lupita Turriff Hispanic Student Scholarship Award. The ICEF’s objective is to recognize and honor high school seniors who have exemplified outstanding achievement in academics, extracurricular/employment activities and community involvement. Only open to students seeking degrees in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering or High School Chemistry Teaching.
Prairie View Grade School PTO Scholarship (Deadline – March 9, 2023) $1,000
The purpose of the Prairie View Grade School PTO Scholarship is to encourage qualified students to pursue further education.
CRCA Foundation Scholarship (Deadline – March 10, 2023) $5,000
The CRCA Foundation will grant two (2) scholarships to graduating high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year accredited college or university in the Fall of 2023. The objective of these scholarship awards is to assist college/university-bound students in obtaining a quality education.
Central 301 Music Boosters (Deadline – March 17, 2023) $750
Complete this application to qualify for one of two scholarships provided by the Central Music Boosters. To qualify, applicants must have been active in the Music Program at Central High School in some way and must agree to continue their music education beyond high school. This does not mean that you must pursue a major in music, but you must register in some music-related class or program (i.e. band, chorus, etc.) at the college of your choice.
Lily Lake Grade School PTC Scholarship (Deadline – March 24, 2023) $1,000
The Lily Lake PTC is offering a $1,000 scholarship to one (1) Central High School Senior who has attended Lily Lake Grade School.
Rotary Vocational Scholarship #1 (Deadline – March 25, 2023) $1,500
The basis of the Rotary District 6440 Career and Technical Education (CTE) / Vocational Scholarship program is to recognize and support the outstanding achievements of people who reside within our limits who are preparing to further themselves in a chose CTE field.
Rotary Vocational Scholarship #2 (Deadline – March 25, 2023) $1,500
The basis of the Rotary District 6440 Career and Technical Education (CTE) / Vocational Scholarship program is to recognize and support students who are preparing to further themselves in a chosen vocation.
301 Foundation – Scholarship (Deadline – March 31, 2023) $2,000
The 301 Central Education Foundation Scholarship is based on scholastic achievement, participation in community or school service, and demonstration of leadership in the community or district schools.
301 Foundation – Steven T. Watwood Memorial Scholarship (Deadline – March 31, 2023) $500
This scholarship is in memory of Steven T. Watwood a longtime 301 Central Education Foundation Board Member. Steve was known in the community for his generosity, friendship and dedication to his loved ones. He proudly served his country as a US Marine. Steve had a degree in accounting/taxation, enjoyed playing football in college and was a business owner. We are grateful to have known Steve and thankful for all that he did to make our community a better place.
301 Foundation – Incubator Scholarship (Deadline – March 31, 2023) $1,000
The 301 Central Education Foundation Incubator Scholarship is based on scholastic achievement, participation in community or school service, and demonstration of leadership in the community or district schools.
Central Education Association Scholarship (Deadline – March 31, 2023) $1,000
The Central Education Association (CEA) Scholarship requires an essay (1-2 pages, double spaced) explaining why you wish to pursue a career in teaching.
DCFS Scholarship Program (Deadline – March 31, 2023) $ TBD
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) is currently accepting applications for the 2023 DCFS Scholarship Program for current and former youth in care. The scholarship package includes a full tuition and mandatory fee waiver to any community college, university, or college maintained by the State of Illinois, a monthly grant payment, start-up grant and a medical card.
Poplar Grove Aviation Scholarship (Deadline – March 31, 2023) $ TBD
Students should review the qualifications to be recepients of the Poplar Grove Aviation Scholarship. They must intend to utilize the training to become a professional in the aviation/automotive industry, including maintenance, and the education program must result in a degree or FAA certificate. The recipients must be at least a junior in high school at the time of application. The recipients must reside in Boone, Winnebago, Kane, Dekalb, or McHenry counties in Illinois, or Walworth or Rock counties in Wisconsin.
Golden Apple Scholarship Program (Deadline – April 1, 2023) $ TBD
The Golden Apple Scholars of Illinois program is a teacher preparation and tuition assistance program for high school seniors and freshman and sophomore Illinois college students who have the determination and drive to be highly effective teachers in Illinois schools-of-need. We prepare aspiring teachers for immediate and lasting success in the most challenging teaching environments.
Country Trail Elementary School PTO Scholarship (Deadline – April 5, 2023) $1,000
Among the requirements for this scholarship, on a separate sheet of paper, please explain how Central CUSD 301, in general, and Country Trails Elementary School, specifically, has impacted your education, as well as how this scholarship would help in your future education plans. (200-300 words, double spaced, 12-point font).
Northern Illinois News Association (Deadline – April 7, 2023) $1,000
Northern Illinois High School Journalism Scholarship recognizes outstanding achievement by high school students in print and/or online journalism. A winner will receive a cash scholarship from the Northern Illinois Newspaper Association, a plaque and an announcement of the award in the NINA online newsletter. The scholarship award will be presented to a high school senior who demonstrates the standards of honesty, integrity, attention to detail, hard work, creativity and an understanding and commitment to quality community journalism. The successful candidate may be an editor, writer, photographer, manager, marketing or advertising representative or graphic designer at a high school newspaper and/or website, or a professional news publication, either print or online.
Elgin Sports Hall of Fame Foundation (Deadline – April 21, 2023) $1,700
Central High School will again receive two (2) Automatic Scholarships from the Elgin Sports Hall of Fame Foundation, one male and one female. Students may also submit up to two (2) additional At-Large Scholarship Applications. All scholarship applications are to be submitted to Craig Lamp no later than April 21, 2023.
Central Youth Football and Cheer League Scholarship (Deadline – April 30, 2023) $500
The Central Youth Football & Cheer League (CYFL) awards annually one $500 scholarship for a Rocket
football player and one $500 scholarship for a Rocket cheerleader that is currently enrolled in Central 301. The CYFL is an organization that encourages and develops youth in the sports of cheer and football. We are a feeder program for future Rocket athletes and have developed a program that will mentor and
positively influence the youth of Central 301.
George Dekan Memorial Scholarship (Deadline – May 1, 2023) $2,000
Senior athletes who are participating in an Illinois high school Track and Field and / or Cross Country program and who are planning on attending college or a career school are eligible for the non-renewable scholarship. A minimum of two (2) scholarships (one male and one female) of $2000 apiece will be awarded by the Illinois Track and Cross Country Coaches’ Association based on academic, athletic, and non-athletic achievements, as well as an original essay composed by the applicant.
