Over the weekend, Central High School and Central Community Unit School District 301 administration were made aware of a highly inappropriate social media post involving students from Central High School. The derogatory, racist remarks in the post do not reflect Central 301’s values or our standards of appropriate and acceptable student conduct.

Central Community Unit School District 301 is a very diverse district, and we celebrate and value our diversity. Actions that go against our values of inclusion and respect have no place in our schools or our school-sponsored activities.

We appreciate all who brought this incident to our attention. Any members of the school community with concerns about this matter should contact Central High School administration. Students may also reach out to school social workers.

Due to the inability to meet the demands of staffing, we will be canceling all sessions for Central High School on Monday, January 10, 2022. Please note, we continue to strive to keep all buildings open if possible. Unfortunately, there are times we are not able to adequately staff a specific school and in these instances we will close them on a case-by-case basis. If you have students in another building, that school should be presumed open unless you receive a separate school closure notification.

All practices will be canceled; however, scheduled athletic competitions will proceed as scheduled.

Registration is now open for the 2020-2021 school year! Parents/Guardians will need to log into their Skyward Parent Portal to complete the online registration process. If you do not know your login information, please contact a building secretary.

New families who have not yet submitted preliminary registration materials should visit our Registration Information page to download registration forms. Completed paperwork should be emailed to the CHS Registrar, Teresa McMahon, at teresa.mcmahon@central301.net. Once all required paperwork is received, you will be notified of your Skyward login information so you can complete the online registration process.

As a reminder, all new families must provide verification of residency before students may be enrolled. Additionally, returning families who rent or are hosted must provide verification of residency each school year. Students who do not have completed online registration or verification of residency (as required) will not be permitted to attend school for the 2020-2021 school year until these steps are completed.

Due to the stay-at-home order, we are limiting in-person visits to school offices. Forms can be emailed to teresa.mcmahon@central301.net or to registration@central301.net. If you need to submit hard copies of paperwork, please drop it off in the registration dropbox at the District Office, located at 275 South Street, Burlington, between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The State of Illinois has physical exam, dental, vision and/or immunization requirements for students entering early childhood, Kindergarten, 2nd, 6th, 9th and 12th grades. While we recognize that medical, vision, and dental appointments may not be readily available at this time, Illinois has not issued any information regarding changes in the school health requirements or their due dates for the 2020-2021 school year. We will continue to monitor and share with you any changes as they become available from the Illinois Department of Public Health or the State of Illinois.

At this time, we encourage you to share the most recent examination report with CHS school nurse Melissa Baumgartner for preliminary review at melissa.baumgartner@central301.net. Please visit our Health Requirements page on the District website for more information about the State requirements for each grade level.

If you have questions about or need help with online registration or residency, please contact a building secretary. You can also email questions to registration@central301.net. Once we receive these requests we will have someone within the district communicate with you.
